Preorders opened, and the launch-day window closed
Preorders for iPhone Duo opened at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on October 16, 2026. Orders placed at the opening were scheduled to arrive on October 23. Within minutes, delivery dates moved from October 23 into November. By about 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time, the US Apple Store showed January 25, 2027 for all eight configurations: Star White and Night Sky, each in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. (MacRumors, MacRumors)
In-store pickup on that store was then turned off. Apple’s page told customers to check back on October 24. (MacRumors)
What the estimates looked like later that day
By Friday afternoon, delivery estimates on Apple’s US store had settled in late January for every color and storage size. The same report said AT&T and Verizon still showed same-week delivery until about noon, and Best Buy showed about a two-week shipment for most models as late as 2 p.m. Eastern. Those other sellers’ dates can move. (AppleInsider)
Apple has not published a walk-in stock count for October 23. AppleInsider reported that stores would have at least some units, and that a visit does not guarantee a phone. (AppleInsider)
Apple told the Financial Times that demand was “nothing short of extraordinary,” as reported by MacRumors.
Checked again on October 17
On October 17, 2026, the US, Hong Kong and mainland China configuration pages still described the phone as a pre-order available starting October 23. None of those screens showed a dated delivery estimate. This article does not replace the October 16 US figure, and it does not quote a Hong Kong or mainland China ship date. The China page says regional shipping details appear at checkout. Hong Kong and mainland China both said each customer is limited to two units.
First-wave availability remains October 23, and the next 28 markets remain October 30. The release-date page keeps the timeline and this snapshot together.
