¹ Apple’s test ratings; real endurance and charging speed depend on conditions. The stated wired charging test requires a separately sold 60W-capable adapter or higher. ² Water resistance is a laboratory rating, not a promise against damage in every use case.
Apple’s EU product information sheet for model A3720 also declares these test values for that model: energy efficiency class A; battery endurance of 51 hours 30 minutes per full charge; cycle life of at least 1,000 cycles; the battery is not user-replaceable; IP68 at 6 m; repeated free-fall reliability of at least 140 drops (35 when tested unfolded), class B; scratch resistance of Mohs level 5; repairability class C (2.65/5); operating-system updates for at least 5 years; and an EU minimum supplier guarantee of 12 months. These are EU declared test values. They are measured differently from Apple’s video-playback battery claims, and they are not our own testing. A3720 is only the model identifier on that EU sheet; this page does not infer model numbers for other regions. MacRumors says 4,883 mAh matches a leak of two cells, 2,962 mAh and 1,921 mAh, and that because Duo is eSIM-only the capacity should be the same worldwide.
Does it have Face ID or Touch ID?
Apple lists Touch ID in the side button. A front camera is not evidence of Face ID: the camera and authentication specifications must be read separately.
Can it use Apple Pencil at launch?
Apple originally said USB-C Apple Pencil support would arrive later in 2026, on either screen. Under the iOS 27.2 release candidate, released October 19, analyst Max Weinbach’s hands-on testing found that the USB-C model works on both the inner and outer displays. That testing is not an Apple announcement. iOS 27.2 is expected to reach the public around the end of October. The launch version of iOS does not include Pencil support until 27.2 ships, so a compatibility line in a specs list still does not mean the feature is available on day one. Does “2x Telephoto” mean a third rear camera?
No. Apple’s two-camera system uses the main camera for an optical-quality 2x option. It should not be described as a separate dedicated telephoto lens.
Can the inner display’s cover layer be replaced?
Kate Bergeron, Apple’s vice president of hardware engineering, said the inner display’s cover layer can be replaced to address wear or the crease; Apple or an authorized service provider does that replacement, and it is not a screen protector the user applies (MacRumors, Macworld).
What remains unconfirmed here?
Apple’s public specs do not give us a RAM capacity or a verified long-term hinge-life measurement. Those fields stay unfilled. Durability, heat and real-world endurance need independent testing after devices become available.
